KATHMANDU: Nepal APF Club’s Sujan Joshi and Ashish Maharjan were
selected for the 20th World Taekwondo Championships slated for May 1-6
in Korea. Sujan – who overcame Ram Dutta Bhatta of Tribhuvan Army Club
in the semi-finals — defeated Nepal Police Club’s Nischal Man Shrestha
4-3 in the U-63kg final. Ashish, who eliminated NPC’s Nima Dorjee Sherpa
in the last four, edged another policeman Anuj Pujari in the U-68kg
final in Superiority after both the players failed to break the 6-6
deadlock in the added one minute time. Sujan and Ashish — who were the
members of the Nepali taekwondo squad that participated in the 16th
Asian Games in China — were selected ahead of U-54kg winner Surendra
Khadki and U-58kg champion Ranjan Shrestha.
